Sunday Glory … Recognize God

Sunday Glory!!!

Today is another day that the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad.

Lighthouse Chapel International Memory Verse of the Week:
Proverbs 29:18 KJV
[18] Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
For want of a better understanding I strayed to The Message Bible :
If people can’t see what God is doing,
they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals,
they are most blessed.

This week’s memory verse is a call to order to recognize God, identify what he does in our lives as well as what he wants us to do to become and remain blessed.
As we take a new week, you can use these prayer points to pray
* Recognize God in your life by thanking him even for the things you consider minute in your life like these pair of eyes you are using to read this message with.
* Thank God even for the tough situation(s) you may be facing and recognize that this is a season in preparation for the blessing. Your present situation is mentioned in one of these seasons in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
* Ask for the perfect will of God in your life. Some of us are in the permissive will of God because we have designed what we want and he has let us have it.It is time to go back to our Father and ask him to teach us from our heart to say let His Will be done in our lives so that we can enjoy the benefits he has for us (Jeremiah 28:11).For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Have a great week .

Sunday Glory – Honour Thy Father & Mother

Sunday Glory!!!

Another week is here and we are faced with new challenges but our God whose steadfast love never ceases will continue to be faithful and provide us with the right solutions.

Our Lighthouse Chapel International Memory Verse of the Week:
Ephesians 6:2 – 3
Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

The Scripture didn’t say honour thy father and mother when they are good to you, when they care for you, and do all the wonderful things that parents do for their children, it just says honour so whether your father does not deserve to be called father , you are obliged to still honour him, whether he paid your school fees or not or he was just a “sperm donor” or he spent his money on alcohol and women,  you are obliged by this Scripture to honor him (if you claim to be a Christian). It is the only commandment with a promise (Exodus 20:12) so realize that you are losing the promise of long life because you are dishonouring your father.
Dishonour comprises of even as little as despising him in your heart, reiterating all the bad things he has done and blaming him for the things you don’t have and you know the rest of the thinks you do and say.
I am a living testimony of honouring my father. My Father was not present in my life and I despised him . I think in January 2010, I openly told him that I will find it in my heart to forgive him for it but it still popped up in my mind from time to time.
One fine Sunday Morning on Father’s Day, Bishop Kevin Dapatem challenged us after his message to honour our fathers and see the blessings that will follow us. I still remember it was one of the first days I found myself crying while we prayed and I asked God for a new heart which I received and I am convinced that after that day I unlocked so many blessings that dishonour was blocking for me.

You may have even insulted your father, despised him in your heart even rained curses on him for been a bad father ( some of us are already walking in their footsteps , some of us may not even be half the father they were).Today is a new day ask God to take away this spirit of hatred, anger, dishonour from you so that you can sweetly enjoy the blessings that come with this commandment.
Even if your Father is death and gone make peace with God and tap into your blessing from this day forward.

Some of us are already working so hard to be bad fathers doing well to abandoning children with one parent, running away from our responsibilities as parents (especially fathers), God is speaking to you to rise up, take up your place in your child’s life no matter how little you think you will provide for this child , it will be sufficient and will allow this child to key into his/ her blessing by honouring you.

Some of you are already reaping the fruits of honouring your father and mother, may God continue to give you the wisdom to do so every day of your life. Those parents who have always taken their rightful position may your children always honour you.

Born Again!!!

For me I can’t say I just met God.I have known Him as long as I could understand, to read and to write.Amazingly I have had a taste of the Catholic Faith because I went to a Catholic Primary School for Seven Years, born to a Protestant (Presbyterian) Mother and had to walk back home from Presbyterian Church Bota to Behind Ambas Bay, Gardens, Limbe.
I learnt how to pray as a family when I spent time with my childhood friends the Achus (Aunty Kay, Ethel, Nina, Lloyd and Mummy Rosemary of blessed memory) just a few weeks before going to college.
I got into contact with the Baptist Faith in Saker Baptist College and this is where I got to really know who God is and will always be.
Through our daily devotions, Sunday school and the Spiritual Emphasis, this school taught me that the only way to live was to start each day with God.
In 2001, I went to the Presbyterian High School in Kumba where Morning & Event Devotion is part of the school program as it in the case with most mission schools.

In 2013 I began fellowshipping at Lighthouse Chapel International and this is where I learnt on what it means to be born again and creating a deep relationship with God.
In a summary I would say it helped to put all what I had learnt in the Catholic, Presbyterian & Baptist School into perspective and into practice.
A lot of people criticize others when they say they are born again and sometimes the newly born again Christians are taken aback when asked what they mean by they are born again.
I will share what I learnt from LCI New Believers School and once I understood salvation I was baptized with water (immersion) and the Holy Spirit (speaking in tongues ) .
Being born again simply implies that you understand what salvation is all about , why , when and how.
I think this is the part where you will need your Bible ,a pen , and a highlighter… I will like to explain this backed by scriptures as I am taught by my Father, Bishop Dag Heward Mills.

In Romans 3:23 we learn that we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and Psalm 51:1 gives us a deep understanding of how we came into contact with sin
‘Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.’

We deserve to be punished and we shall be punished if we continue to hold the truth in unrighteousness. The wages of sin is death – Romans 6:23.

No one is judging you or me but our Father in Heaven knows it all .Look into Romans 1:18 -32 and be honest to yourself, are you for God or against God?
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

The conclusion is we are all sinners but because of the Love which God had for his beautiful creation mankind, He sent His only Son that whosoever believe that in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life – John 3:16.

A Scripture that most of us know by heart and were taught right from Sunday School. The Verse 17 of this Scripture is usually left out, but amazingly it reiterates God’s intention towards us ” For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
Usually, we condemn ourselves for the wrong things we have done , the goodnews is that Jesus did came for us sinners , for us to turn away from sin and be saved.

We become born again when believe that Jesus died , resurrected for the forgiveness of our sins (Hebrews 9:22) and receiving him as our personal savior which is clearly enacted in John 1:12
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the
sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

Being Born Again is fulfillment of the Bible in Romans 10:9,10
” 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

* After this confession you have become a new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
* All your sins past, present and future are remitted, I am not the one saying so it is what the Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:12 and I love the way The Message Bible puts it “He also bypassed the sacrifices consisting of goat and calf blood, instead using his own blood as the price to set us free once and for all.”
* You are now a son or daughter of God – John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
* You have eternal life – John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

The Big Question is who then is Born Again?
A Born Again Christian is someone who has invited Jesus Christ into his life and is determined to live a life controlled by the Bible(Word) and the Holy Spirit.

Do you Know Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior?
If you don’t then now is the time to turn to Jesus wherever you are and say the sinner’s prayer to God not to man:
“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Sunday Glory!!!

Our Memory Verse for the first week of March, a month in which most Christians are fasting, observing and living by the words of the Bible (something we ought to live by everyday of our lives) but I pray that this year will we different as we will walk with the Lord every step of the way,

Lighthouse Chapel International Memory Verse of the Week :
John 3: 6-7
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

This reminds us that we must be born again for us to be able to enter the kingdom of God.We need  to change the focus of our faith from religion to Jesus. Most times you can be religiously impressed without being born again.

The obvious question is why must we be born again. The answer(s) are in our Life’s Manual – The Bible . Psalm 51:5 says we were conceived in sin , We all have sinned  (Rom. 3:23) ,  We are made righteous by putting our faith in Jesus, who died on the cross (Rom 5:12-19).

To be born again is as simple as it written in Matthew 7:21 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father, which is in heaven.”

Search you heart today and be honest to yourself in the presence of God, if in doubt whether you apply Matthew 7:21 in you daily activities then lift up your hands and say a prayer of forgiveness to your Father in Heaven and ask Him to fill your heart and make you a new creation.

After this pray create a relationship with him by calling on him every morning once from feet hits the ground (Psa 5:3) and at night before you lay to sleep (Psa 55:17) and do not forsake the assembling of the brethren ( Heb 10:25)

God is still calling you to come unto him.

Our Memory Verse of the Week of  19.02.2017 :
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Luke 5:32

This Scripture is reminding us that we have all sinned and failed God in one way or the other so whenever you start criticizing yourself for any wrong doing remember that Jesus came for sinners to repent.
He has given us an open invitation to a changed life, changed inside and out.

The only place to hide sin is under the blood of Jesus so run to him.
