Why You Should (or Must ) Go To Church

On a fine Sunday morning like this , the question is where would you be and what are you going to be doing ? Sitting at home trying to catch up on some office work that has to be submitted on Monday morning, or tired from a night out , just lazy to pull yourself out of bed or you don’t have the appropriate outfit to church?
Whatever it is , do yourself this favor , wake up , dress up with what you can find , go to church and share the joy of how just being in the presence of God feels and the impacts.
Some of us have divided the Bible into two parts : “Your Testament” and “God’s Testament” and usually your testament takes priority over the later. Remember, you are either for God or against Him and I love the way the New Living Translation Bible simplifies Matthew 12:30
“Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me.”

I hear a lot of my friends say their church is in their hearts, that they don’t go to church and it is not a prerequisite for Heaven.
And some of them go as far as saying, I don’t go to “those your kind of churches” , yes don’t come! even to go to the ones we were brought up in you still don’t go.
It is about time to put that funny “grand frere” (devil) to shame by waking up this morning and going to fellowship with the brethren.
Be like the prodigal son who rose up after suffering in a strange land and went back to his father’s house with the intention of being a servant. Your Father will receive you happily and throw a feast for you.

On this note , I am sharing some of the reasons why you should, rather you must fellowship with the brethren.
* Keeping the Sabbath Holy
I heard an older man say that back in the days when you visit English Cameroon ,on a Sunday morning, you will only hear people singing but will not see anyone reasons been they had all gone to church.
What happens to the values we were taught in respect of the Fourth Commandment, keep the Sabbath Holy.
Exodus 20: 8-11
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.Perchance this part of our Bible is missing! Do we observe the Sabbath day? This is for you to answer between your Heavenly Father and yourself. Do you now work for seven days? just curious! Have you created another earth? What amazed me over time is whatever you try to do after stealing your church time never really gets done within the time you stole.
* Be like Christ
If we say we are true Christians then under stp(stand temperature and pressure) we should strive to be like Christ Jesus. Jesus went to church regularly.
In Luke 4:16 it is clearly noted that Jesus had made it a custom to go to church so why is ours different?
It is time to renew this christ like spirit with you.

* It is a Good Habit
When Hebrews 10:25KJV said “as a manner of some is” , it was for those of us who have decided that we are not obliged to go to church on Sundays and for other church activities (meetings, evangelization , outreach,name it – you know the responsibilities you have been called up to do in the house of God and you have abandoned it.).
I like the way the NIV says it, “not giving up meeting together” which means sometimes we will feel staying away from church and church activities for one reason or the other but you need to stand firm and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Offense is usually what keeps a lot of people away from church, and no one should lie to you , people will offend you more in church and guess what that is how you offend other but through Christ that strengthens us you learn to love, forgive and guide other to handle offences.
Hebrews 10:25 NIV
not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

* Growth in Your Relationship With God
Most of us have fallen in love before, when you do , all you want is spend time with the person you are in love with, call them, text them, smile, hug and hold them as well as share sweet memories, for a love that will eventually fade away , other times you quarrel and resolve it and we know how that goes but when it comes to God, whose love never fails we don’t want to stay in his presence and we expect the love to grow?
If you need this love to grow and last forever then start today by
Spending Time With Him – Exodus 20:8 / Hebrews 10:25
Listen to Him talk to you – Joshua 1:8
Call & Text Him on direct line – Matthew 26:41 / Mark 11:24
Smile, Hug & Hold Him Close – Jeremiah 23:23
Sing & Dance for and with Him – Psalms 100 : 1 – 5
Spend Quality & Private Time With Him – Matthew 6:6

In the subsequent weeks we will analyze these in detail. Today, just listen to his voice, wake up,get dressed … fully and head to your Father’s House.
If you have any difficulty finding a place of worship then find a Lighthouse Chapel International Church in your area and go fellowship with the brethren where you are served with the unadulterated word of God.
